Frequently Asked Questions
Good Questions, Straight Answers.
What is Sideline?
Sideline is an all-in-one app for sports photographers. One subscription includes five tools: Captions, Rosters, Live, Local, and Wire. Together they cover captioning, rosters, client galleries, wireless tethering, and FTP auto-download.
How does Sideline caption my photos?
Sideline watches your ingest folder and captions each image within seconds of arrival. It reads jersey numbers, matches them to your rosters, and can use facial recognition and your in-camera voice notes. You review and approve every caption before you send.
Which caption styles does it support?
AP, Getty Images, Imagn, Icon Sportswire, and ZUMA Press presets are built in, and you can build and save a custom style for your outlet.
Does it work with Photo Mechanic?
Yes. Sideline builds Photo Mechanic code replacement files from its roster database and works with your existing hot codes and variables. Captions are written straight into your photos' metadata.
Which sports and leagues are covered?
Sideline supports 16 sports across 340+ leagues, with rosters for 116,000+ teams and 1.6M+ athletes, from high school to the pros.
Can I use it without an internet connection?
Yes. Offline mode lets you caption on your Mac without a connection, which helps at venues with spotty Wi-Fi.
Does this work on monthly plans or the free trial?
No. Birthday pricing is only for new customers buying Yearly or Lifetime. Current and past free-trial users don't qualify, and there's no trial with this offer. Your plan starts the day you buy.
I'm already a Sideline customer. Can I use this?
This offer is for new customers only. If your email has ever had a Sideline account or free trial, it doesn't qualify. Questions? Email [email protected].
Should I wait to see if I win the giveaway?
No need. If you buy during the sale and win the Lifetime License giveaway, we'll refund your purchase in full. Entering never requires a purchase.
What do I need to run Sideline?
A Mac running macOS 15 or later. Sideline Local also runs on iPhone and iPad, and Sideline Live galleries work in any browser for you and your clients.
When does the sale end?
Birthday pricing ends soon. After that, prices return to $149/year and $249 for Lifetime.
